Britney Spears thanks the Free Britney Movement for freeing her from tutelage
Britney Spears took to Twitter on Monday to express her love for her most ardent fans, whom she recognized as helping her out of an incredibly restrictive tutelage. “# FreeBritney movement… I have no words… because of you and your constant resilience to free me from my tutelage… my life is now in this direction !!!!! the pop star, 39, wrote to his 55 million Twitter followers. “I cried last night for two hours because my fans are the best and I know it.”
Last week, a judge suspended Spears ‘father Jamie as the curator of his estate, a major step towards ending the guardianship that has governed Spears’ life for the past 13 years. Spears and his lawyer Mathew Rosengart (“Rosengod” to his fans) have been pushing for a move to court for months, calling the situation “abusive”, often backed by hundreds of protesters chanting their support just outside from the courthouse. A hearing has been set for November 12 to determine whether the trusteeship, which remains in place, should be terminated entirely.
On Twitter, Samantha Stark, the director of Coaching Britney Spears, the 2021 New York Times documentary that renewed public interest in the Trusteeship case, replied to Spears’ Tweet. “Britney, your fans love you in a way that has rocked me deeply,” Stark wrote. “So many people love you. Deeply.”
