Gran inspires artist from Ayrshire to win luxury clothing brand design competition
A talented artist from Ayrshire won first prize in a design competition after being inspired by her grandmother.
Dunlop’s Morven Pennington won the People’s Champion award – hosted by new luxury streetwear brand, FORmE – after garnering an impressive 200 votes for his sweatshirt design that will now inspire future garment.
The 16-year-old has beaten over 100 other first prize entries and she owes everything to her grandmother.
Morven said: “I have always loved all kinds of art and a big reason was my grandmother, she was an amazing artist who taught me a lot.
“I really enjoyed creating my design and throughout the process I was aware of the importance of maintaining the brand identity and my inclusion of the rainbow was to align. on the brand’s important message of self-positivity. “
FORmE founder Daniel Watson added: “It is only fitting that Morven won this competition because my grandfather was my biggest inspiration and taught me so much. Morven’s design really stood out right away and I always knew she was going to be one of the most popular and I was over the moon when she finally got the top spot.
“She definitely has a very bright future in design and who knows, she could become a member of the FORmE team in the future!”
FORmE promotes a message of empowerment as the wording on the front of the garment is written inside out so it acts as a reminder when you look at yourself in the mirror to do what makes you happy.
