Homicide investigation underway in Warsaw after the gunshot death of a man, an arrested

WARSAW, MO (KY3) – The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation after a man was fatally shot Sunday morning in Warsaw.
A suspect has been taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s office.
Benton County MPs responded to a disruption near Clearwater Road in Warsaw around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday. Upon arrival, they found a man in a truck who had been shot and wounded.
Witnesses told MPs the suspect beat a woman outside a shack. A man allegedly stood between the suspect and the woman, and then he was shot, according to the sheriff’s office.
The shot man was immediately taken to hospital, but died of his injuries. A suspect has been held in the Benton County Jail and faces pending criminal charges, according to the sheriff’s office.
A SWAT team from the Missouri State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene Sunday morning to assist the sheriff’s office. Benton County Sheriff Eric Knox told KY3 alcohol may have been a factor.
