Lucy and Yak launch recirculation project with vintage retailer Beyond Retro

Independent clothing brand Lucy and Yak has launched a new recirculation partnership with vintage retailer Beyond Retro, with the aim of combating textile waste and extending the life of clothing.

Launched on March 22, the Re:Yak partnership allows customers to swap in old Lucy and Yak products at Beyond Retro stores across the UK, to either be re-housed or responsibly recycled.

Donations can be in any condition, and with each item, customers will receive a voucher to use at Lucy and Yak and Beyond Retro bonus credit when an item sells.

Recycled products will go through the Love Not Landfill process to avoid contributing to waste.

“We believe that for a brand to truly qualify as sustainable, it MUST take full responsibility for the full life cycle of its product,” brand co-founder Lucy Greenwood said in a statement.

Greenwood continued, “At Lucy and Yak, we have always dreamed big when it comes to circularity, but as a small, fast-growing company, resources and space limit what we are able to achieve on our own; collaboration is key to solving problems in this industry.

The new partnership comes as the dungarees brand prepares for the launch of its pop-up store in Bristol, where visitors can view both its latest collection and upcycled clothes they no longer wear.

Bristol and Yak is set to open March 26 and will remain open until April 16.
