Russian national speed skating team hopes to get US entry visas in Warsaw – sport
MOSCOW, October 6. / TASS /. The Russian national speed skating team will await their entry visas to the United States at the Consulate General’s office in Warsaw in order to participate in the American stage of the ISU Speed Skating World Cup 2021/2022 in December, a Russian sports official told TASS. Wednesday.
“We are still facing problems with entry visas to the United States [for the tournament’s US stage] and are trying to sort this out as the majority of our team don’t have them [entry]”said Varvara Barysheva, executive director of the Russian Speed Skating Union (RSSU).
“We have come to a mutual agreement that we can sort this out in Warsaw before the tournament stage in Tomaszow,” she said. “We are grateful to the US State Department, which addressed this issue, as it was almost impossible to obtain entry visas to Russia.”
“This is why the US Speedskating and the International Skating Union [ISU] helped us and the US State Department allowed us to turn to the Consulate General’s office in Warsaw, ”Barysheva said. “We hope that all will be well with our visas as soon as we receive this authorization. “
“The national team is currently stationed at the Novogorsk training camp [outside Moscow] and is due to leave on October 16. I think the final list of Russian national team athletes for the [ISU] The World Cup playoffs will be announced later this week, ”she added.
The 2021/2022 ISU Speed Skating World Cup is set to kick off with the stage at the Polish ice rink Tomaszow Mazowiecki from November 12-14. The US leg of the tournament is scheduled for December 3-5 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
