Steve Johnson

He was born on March 22, 1954 in Columbia City. He was one of four children born to Fredda M. (Sparks) Johnson and F. Glen Johnson. On April 6, 1974, he married the love of his life, Marvene Kay Shoemaker. In their 48 years of marriage, they were blessed with a daughter and experienced the joy of becoming grandparents and created many lifelong memories that will be treasured.

Steve was a lifelong resident of Kosciusko County and was known as a dependable, hardworking man who always had time to talk, give advice, and be the prankster of the group. Steve was a mechanic by trade and ran Diamond Fleet Services in Atwood for many years. Recently in his semi-retirement, he enjoyed keeping the guys in line as a balance master at G&G Excavating. He has always been a 4-H supporter where some of the best memories were made guiding his daughter, niece and granddaughters through their 4-H careers. Steve had a great personality and got along with everyone, he had a servant’s heart and was the go-to person whenever anyone needed help. Steve was a member of the Mizpah Shriners of Northeast Indiana, the Scottish Rite of Fort Wayne, and the Masonic Lodge of Warsaw. He was a longtime member of Clunette United Methodist Church where he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many. Steve will be greatly missed by all who had the chance to know him.

He leaves behind his wife, Marvene Kay Johnson (Warsaw), his daughter, Amy (Shaun) Rumschlag (Decatur), two grandchildren, Abbey and Elise Rumschlag (Decatur,) and a great-niece, Taryn Whetstone (Warsaw) . Also survived are two brothers, Jimmie Johnson (Elkhart), Scott (Jeff) Johnson (Ogunquit, Maine), a sister, Sue (Ron) Judd (Winona Lake), and several other nieces and nephews. His parents predeceased him.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Steve’s life will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home and celebrated by Pastor Mike Beezley.
