The first of 1,700 American soldiers arrives in Poland and Warsaw announces that they will be deployed in the south-east of the country

Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced on Sunday the arrival of additional US troops in the country.
“We are constantly strengthening the security of Poland and NATO’s eastern flank. Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division recently landed at the airport in Rzeszow,” a city in southeastern Poland, the headline wrote on its Twitter account. . Blaszczak added that this action is the “allied response” of Warsaw and Washington “to the growing crisis caused by the aggressive actions of Russia”.
A few hours earlier, the Polish Ministry of Defense had specified that a total of 1,700 American soldiers will arrive in the country. “They will operate in the southeastern part of our country, on the eastern flank of NATO. This place focuses our attention, but also the attention of NATO and the United States, ”said Blaszczak, quoted in the press release.
Even before this expedition, American, British, Romanian and Croatian troops were stationed in Poland. In addition, Polish troops are present in Latvia and Romania, which are also members of NATO.
Militarization of Europe
Washington last Wednesday ordered the transfer of some 2,000 soldiers to Poland and Germany, as well as the relocation to Romania (where there are already some 900 soldiers) of 1,000 soldiers American soldiers stationed in Germany. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby also stressed that the measure does not represent “the sum total” of US deterrence actions.
The deployment aims todeterrence and defense against any aggression” by the Russian army, pleads the White House, which insists on the fact that Russia is preparing an attack against Ukraine, what Moscow has repeatedly denied.
The troops sent to Germany landed last Friday at the Wiesbaden base airfield.
Amid increasing arms supplies to Ukraine and sending troops to European countries, Russian UN representative Vasili Nebenzia said last Tuesday that Washington’s militarization of the neighboring country contravenes its calls to resolve the situation through diplomatic channels and may have dangerous consequences.
At the same time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushkó asserted that the US deployment represents a “destructive stage” that it would only “please” the pro-Western government of Ukraine, in addition to “increase military tension and reduce the scope of political solutions”.
