Tom Brady to launch clothing line in December
Tom Brady’s latest business is coming out this winter: Brady, a line of men’s sportswear, workout wear and casual wear.
While this isn’t Brady’s first foray into fashion, it will be the first time he’s developed a brand from scratch.
According to WWD, Brady is partnering on the project with co-founder Jens Grede, who partnered with Kim Kardashian on his Skims brand, and designer Dao-Yi Chow, co-founder of streetwear brand Public School New York (and formerly of DKNY ).
Brady has previously worked on fashion campaigns with UGG, Under Armor and luxury watch brand IWC Schaffhausen.
The line is slated for release on bradybrand.com in December and includes two collections, Train and Live, specializing in sportswear and casual wear, respectively.
According to a press release, the brand uses “advanced manufacturing” and “sustainable practices” for a collection geared towards “optimum performance on and off the court.”
Jens Grede told the Wall Street newspaper that their goal is to make the brand one of the eponymous top sportswear brands, comparing their goal to Michael Jordan’s eponymous shoe brand.
Also according to a press release, the Brady fashion line has been in development for three years. The brand first announced the launch on September 28 in a WSJ interview with Brady, and a coordinated Instagram post on the brand’s account. “Built for on and off the pitch,” read the caption for the Instagram post, urging viewers to sign up to receive email updates.
“He loves clothes a lot more than I do,” Gisele Bündchen, Brady’s wife of 15 years, told the WSJ. “He’s got great taste, understands and really cares about what people want, what can make them feel good. This is fashion.
The only brand photos released so far have been a few photos of Brady modeling a jacket on his WSJ profile and a full body photo posted on the brand’s Instagram account. More details on the brand could emerge as the December launch date approaches, just in time for holiday shopping.
