Upanishads photo engraved at Warsaw University leaves Indians in awe
As an Indian, there is no better feeling than seeing the culture of your country being appreciated by the world. In recent years, Westerners have become increasingly interested in learning more about the rich culture and ancient traditions of India. Now the Indian Embassy in Poland has shared a photo of Upanishads slokas engraved on the walls of the University of Warsaw. In a country where people know almost nothing about Hindi, the presence of Sanskrit shlokas on a college campus is a truly stunning visual.
Sharing the photo on their Twitter feed, the Indian Embassy wrote: “What a lovely sight!” They also explained the text carved on the wall.
Here is the Tweet:
What a lovely sight !! 😇 It is a wall of the University of Warsaw library with Upanishads engraved on it. The Upanishads are late Sanskrit Vedic texts of Hindu philosophy which form the foundations of Hinduism. 🙏🙏@MEAIndia pic.twitter.com/4fWLlBUAdX– India in Poland (@IndiainPoland) July 9, 2021
Since being shared online, the tweet has so far received over 1,500 likes as well as several user comments. Sharing their reactions, people said that seeing Indian culture being appreciated by the world filled them with immense pride and happiness. Reacting to the photo, one of the users pointed out that Indians are forgetting their rich culture and traditions in order to become modern. While another person said that sooner or later people all over the world will realize the importance of Indian Hindu philosophy.
Tall, proud and very happy to rate. The whole world began to recognize Hindu philosophy as we Indians forgot about our great culture. Something has to be done to generate interest, especially among young people. – K Sainath Babu (@ KSainathBabu2) August 5, 2021
It would be sooner rather than later. Hope West will soon realize the futility of the hopeless life that embodies her philosophy. – Teacher. Chetan Prakash, avid reader, poet and critic. (@ ChetanPrakash1) August 5, 2021
An Indian student doing his doctorate at the University of Warsaw mentioned that there was also a bust of Mahatma Gandhi placed in the study area of the university.
